Ming's Blue Jade With Phoenix Gold Design Ring
The Blue Jade ring is of the Phoenix Gold work Design by Ming's of Honolulu.
The Ring is set with a Thick Translucent Blue Jade Cabochon.
Stone Size: 23.5 mm X 17 mm or approx 1 inch X 3/4 inch
About 9 mm thick.. this is a thick stone but translucent
Weight: 11.4 grams
The ring is in it's original box which is the Asian Brocade Fabric box.
This box is also the metal hinged one, it dates piece
to a little later compared to first red box from
what my friend the noted Ming's collector has shared.
The Ring is a size: 6 and fully Marked with Ming's
and 14K on Shank of Ring.
There is no damage to jade or gold.
Was in Safe and with metal in the ring box accounts
for ring box velvet to be discolored.
This jade is particularly interesting.
Ming's did Blue Jade items.
In my opinion the color is a lavender blue.
But is called Blue Jade and is known as Blue Jade
by the collectors.
This particular piece is more translucent than many others
that I've seen. I had another one (blue jade ring)
that was far less translucent.
Sold the other Blue Jade ring first due to that reason
along with it did not have the Hallmark Ming's Gold Work
as this one does The Phoenix Gold Design.
My Aunt Was Cleaning out her safe at home, found the ring
and asked me to trade with her.
She ended up with my vintage apple jade earrings
that have nice 1950's gold work
around the jade pieces.
I personally like this the best of the Ming's of Honolulu
I have in inventory right now.
Not that it belonged to my aunt.
But due to Size of stone, thickness of stone
and gold work.
IMHO given a choice I'd purchase this one.
I can only see this being more collectible in the
future as a Ming's item.
Happy Treasure Hunting!
